where can an american buy linen thread?
youngbowyer:
Do any of you know where an American can buy linen thread for binding my arrows? The michaels maybe?
Ian.:
if you google somac linen you may find an American stockist, fishing shops may sell the stuff, also upholstery suppliers may have some the right size they use it to hold buttons on,

Good quality, 100% pure linen thread (without wax) is probably not available at your local craft store. I have to buy mine online.....but I can't remember where I bought it last time.
Here's a link to thread that I know is NOT waxed:

If you don't mind using a thick, rustic looking linen thread or cord, you can get it locally. Here's a link to a thread here on PA (excuse the pun ;D):

youngbowyer:
thanks you hepled me a lot! Though now I don'y know whether I should buy waxed linen or unwaxed. What is better? because if I coose waxed I can get the natural color unwaxed not :-\ So what should I use? ;D
JackCrafty:
If you use thread with wax on it, you won't be able to glue the thread down easily. And the only arrow finish that works over wax is wax.
Both waxed and unwaxed threads will work for the fletching. You should be able to get natural color for both types....but it might take a little more searching.
