Eddie:  That helped me.  I've always had a hard time starting any material with a "square" edge, be it glass, obsidian, or Johnstone.  Does the flat pressure flaker help too?

 Mike, the flat flaker helps me run wider flakes.I just take a hammer and flatten the tip and then clean it up with a file. If I want to run thinner flakes I just turn it on edge and do the same starting notches. I have pointed ones but tend to use the flat one more.

Is the rubber you used available to public i have worn out a few that i made and would like to find a more durable material.
