Bladdernut shafts

(1/1)

Harsh:
I live in upstate New York and remember reading somewhere that American Bladdernut (Staphylea trifolia) was historically used as arrow shafts.  Anybody have any experience harvesting and using it.  I have some close to home and plan on trying it.  It'll be my first true arrow project - I'll let you know how it goes.

TRACY:
It's worth trying, it is prolifiic in the understory here. Post back if you have any luck.

Pat B:
Let us know how it works. Always looking for a new arrow wood to try.    Pat

stickbender:

Never heard of it.  What does it look like, and what are the states it grows in? :)
