Titebond sheer strength?

Could TBII hold up for a wood or boo backed R/D bow? Would it depend on weight?

Usually I see them done with epoxies, so I figured that TB simply wasn't stronge nough for that sort of design? I've used it on straight bows without issue, but I've never done a R/D glue up?

I used TBIII on the last 2 or 3 boo backed bows and they are still shooting.

I used tb3 for both bbi's I made, and for the other 2 glueups. No failure yet.

Hi,

I a glue comparison in Fine Woodworking TightBond III beat them all...the tests included stressing joints in doors and such and waterproof qualities.  I have an osage/boo bow down to the tillering stage and so far so good.  If it blows up I be glad to let post that fact and switch to the other stuff!  Have an ipe/boo bow waiting for the results of the osage/boo...will admit I don't know squat but gotta start somewhere!:-)

I have an boo backed ipe bow with three inches of net reflex and she pulls close to 80 pounds right now.....absolutely sound and solid

Kegan, I'd use the tb2  on light bows, that being said they are usually sold next to each other in what ever store you are in.. There is a difference....

The one local place doesn't have it. From waht I've heard there seems to be a big difference. Now I know so- thanks eveyrone :)!

Titebond creeps, meaning it slides some tiny %. I notice it in such area as fades on tri-laminated bows.
Though, no failure from that, it just does not look good when it happens....

Dont worry about it strength though, one of the strongest glues out there.
Strongest is probably hideglue, which doesnt creep. I have a pot that has curled in from the glue pulling the sides as it dried!
