they look good i own a pair that i traded for when i worked this year here they are. they are made from split elk hide with a vibrum over leather sole since i do blacksmithing and some hot slag wont burn through so fast when i step on it hehe

I ended up making two pairs of these... My first pair, pictured here, out of Buffalo and the second pair out of Elk.
The Buffalo worked GREAT!!!  no trouble with traction or stretching, even in damp grass, mud, rain...   
The Elk, on the other hand, stretched out a bit just walking in the fresh, dew covered grass. They didn't stretch out
 to where they were un-wearable... but they did stretch.
If you have a choice between Buffalo and Elk...  Choose Buffalo.

my friend makes these for a living just remember that the elk will stretch close to a 1/4 - 1/2 inch they used it on purpose so the leather can form to any size foot properly since all feet are different

Nashoba, I used an Upholstery thread...  Very Strong stuff.
