any idea?
« on: July 24, 2009, 12:35:35 am »
well i havent had alot of luck this week making points >:(
busted about a dozen and only made 2,one last night and one tonight.
last nights point, like always for me,was obsidion.
tonights was a piece of some kind of chert i am guessing.
it had a white chalky cortex, and some really sweet color.
i got this from the guy that i buy my slabs of obsidion from,he wasnt sure what kind of cher it was.
well i seem to have this style of point down, and wanted to try a differant stone.
so i grabed this out of my bucket and went to town.
all i can say is "i love this rock",it knapped fairly easy for me.a little differant than obsidion.
heres what i ended up with,my usual style but  a new rock.
in the second pic,you can see a white spot in the middle of the point.this is a piece of the cortex that goes into the rock.
its not just on the surface,it actually goes into the rock. i tried to thin it enough to get rid of it,but said enough is enough.
it was too cool looking to break it,especially since it was my only piece of this rock
if any body knows what it is please let me know, and if you know where i could get more that info would be sweet too.
thanks for looking
