Bambo arrows

(1/1)

skyarrow:
ok my dad has a huge patch of bamboo that grows in his yard its max size is about 1" in dia so i was wondering if i cut the smaller ones can i make arrows out of them

Josh:
If I had them in my yard I would have to try....   Not all bamboo is created equal though there are many different species of bamboo.  I would cut some, bundle it together in three foot lengths in bundles of 12 and let them dry out for at least a month.  The only way to know is to try it.   Good luck!   -josh

mullet:
Pull them down and cut the tops out of the big ones.

WillAdams:
The potential difficulty is how much the stalk tapers over a given length.

1" thick stalks which 10 to 15' tall usually taper more at the top than the bottom, while a four or five foot high stalk may be 3/8" for much of its length and much more suited.
