Giant Reed (Arundo donax)

Can this stuff be used for arrows?  It's about the only "cane" I can find that grows here in Tucson.

Never mind I just found a video of PaleoAleo making some arrows out of this species.

Yeah that stuff makes arrows.  And they are awesome!!  One of the arrows used in the bird point test was made from that stuff.  But that arrow is now broken...I sunk it 22 inches into a raccoon and....well, it killed him.  But when he fell outta the tree it broke the arrow. 

I LOVE reed.  Even though it's kinda lightweight, it makes some sweet arrows that fly like darts.  Just make sure you have enough spine for the poundage you're shooting, and put foreshafts in the front.

Thanks Billy.  I'm working with some tomato stake boo right now and I like that but a free source of reed nearby that'll work is always nice.
