boardbow video build along

did this awhile back.  the feedback i've gotten doesn't  seem to bad.  this is a red oak board 2" wide 68" long, 66" ntn.  it came out to 48# @ 28".  sorry no pics but i gave it to a friend at work who really loves to shoot but can't afford much right now.  It really turned out great for red oak.  really good cast and very accurate.  I shot basketballs out of the air with it all day last saturday.

Nice video, lots of work putting it together for people to enjoy, Thanks.

If you use a tilllering gizmo in your process you will be more likely to make poundage because wood removal will be more precise and the chance to over shoot will be lessened.

Another thing I do is shape the handle completely as soon as I go to the short string. Even though we call them non bending handles, shaping will drop a pound or two and affect tillering out of the fades.

wow you must have a lot of basketballs!

it's good work, the video...i liked how you demonstrate on only one limb, each step of the procedure, makes things faster.  I must say though:  I have never heard of gloves being used as safety equipment on table saws and band saws and so on.  You be careful, my brother.

well i only shot two basketballs several times.  and gloves are for splinters.  I guess i didn't mention that part.  My hands don't come anywhere near the blade but kick backs can yank the wood out of your hands and drive a splinter in deep.  i am a mechanic by trade and know around lathes and the like, you don't want anything that won't tear away easily.

Very nice build-along and thanks for putting that together for everyone to see. You have a very nice choice of tools in your shop, for some reason I haven't varied much from a rasp and drawknife. A bandsaw would really speed things up for me but I can't for some reason bring myself to it.....
