Turkey wing calls
HoBow:
Knowing this group- I know a few got made today ;D. Go ahead and post some pics- I made two- my first ever. Ill post pics later.
sailordad:
yup
i have about 8-10 wings worth of bones just waiting for cold winter days, when i cant knapp outside,to be made into calls
i need to have 4 done by spring for hunting
making myself one from a tom wing, one from a jake wing, one from a hen wing, one for the land owner who lets me hunt.
they say they sound like the bird they came from i.e. a hen wing will be higher pitched,a jake a little lower and a tom even lower
ok lets see those pics ;D
mrkinsey:
is there a "how to" on here to show us how to do this? It sounds awesome.
HoBow:
Mrkinsey- this was the site I used to make mine:
http://www.customcalls. com/makeawingbonecall1.htm
These are my first, so they are not fancy. The one wrapped in green split, on the large bone, which is why I wrapped it. I ended up taking it off because it was preventing vibration and sounded weird. My lips are getting ready to fall off from trying to perfect the sound....it does take some getting use to, but the family was sure impressed ;D The site said domestic turkeys do not work, but these seamed to work just fine. Anyone else make some?

aint nothing wrong with them
someone one here did a build along about a year ago, look in the past post on the "how to/build alongs" section
as far as soung goes, you should check that as you are putting the peces together(that way you can adjust each piece for best sound)
then just mark the pieces where the fit together and make the best sound, then glue them up.
once you have them glued together, you can still adjust for better sound.
you just need to work on lip placement on the tube.a little rubber o ring, that fits snuggly,on the end piece(where yor lips go)
makes a nice stopper and placement for your lips.once you know where your lips work best just put the oring on upto that point
next time you will know right where your lips go on the call
