3 lam IPE warbow

I call this a warbow, even though the draw weight does not quite make the grade.  It is a warbow to me though because it's a bit more than I can manage, especially since I broke my wrist knapping some flint.   Even though the bow only pulls about 85# @ 32" it still is too much for me right now, I'll have to wait till my wrist heals before I can pull it all the way.  I can get it back to about 30" though.  The bow is 70" N to N, 1 1/8" wide by just over 3/4" thick.  The horn nocks are WB and quite small for the bow.  Here's some pictures

Nice bow Marc. 85# is a great weight if you ask me.

I have never heard of anyone who broke their wrist knapping. Im going back to obsidian and leaving that hard rock to the real men.

Very nice work, Marc! 85# qualifies as a warbow in my books. The back is obviously bamboo, and the belly is ipe, but what did you use as your mid-lam? It looks like the tips are reflexed a bit... did you glue-in the reflex?

It was quite a shock when my wrist let go as I was pressure flaking, I guess I was pushing too hard.

The middle lam is Rock Maple.  I glued in about 3" of reflex and it has kept about half of that.

nice bow there marc!  Hope your wrist heals fast for you.  i broke my Scaphoid bone in my left wrist a year ago and it is still giving me fits. (I'm a Lefty) Oh well mine is in my draw hand so it doesn't hurt when I shoot unless I try to shoot right handed, LOL.     -josh

Marc it looks bit like some of the relfexed tips bows from froissart chronicless, though for this weight I wouldnt made it so bendy in the handle. Try to make transition from horn to wood smoother, this must be bitch to brace

Bugger with your hand, I m actually having prosthethic archer glove developped at the company which makes kybernetic hands, because fingers on my right hand and palm wont be ever in the condition to draw safely over 100#.

My wrist is getting better but there's still a ways to go yet.

I prefer a slightly stiffer center but to do that I would have had to lower the draw weight and I didn't want to do that.

    Very nice Mark, 85# is nothing to be ashamed of, your not exactly a kid anymore. I agree with you on the draw weight, I think you would have had to lower the weight also if you kept the center stiffer. Is that bow difficult to brace? Steve
