deersled:
do you guys stitch holes before or after framing/hand stretching? I've read you should do it before drying to make it dry flat. Problem is....as the hide dries the stitches pull out. when I stitch them dry, they seem to "pucker".

leapingbare:
are you talking about racking a hide to dry scrap.. or racking a hide to brake with a paddle?

deersled:
wetscrape. racking it after you have brained it. the stitches want to pop as you work it with a paddle

leapingbare:
Oh. I've never done one that way. have you ever tyred to brake one on a wire? and on your lap?

Outbackbob48:
Jesse, I just finshed breaking one yesterday on a cable an on knees an hands. I thought hit came out real good for first attept. Flanks came out dead soft , a little stiff on the spine , had a spot on one hip just didn,t want to dry course the neck is stiffer than I like but all in all came out okay for first attempt. I know it,s cold there but you should try working outside with 3 feet of snow on ground. Later Bob
