"Frodo", I like that.   Welcome to Primitive Archer Caleb.  You are a lucky man to be able to be mentored by such a group as Pappy's Gang. There is a wealth of knowledge there for sure. Learn all you can and pass it on, just as it's been happening for many, many years. ;)

Pappy scored #5 today so the pressure is on.  Greg told him to get in the woods this afternoon and he'd tie me.  I've gotta get back out Monday morning.  We had a good morning hunting and working on bows.  I hope to get my recurve finished by Monday and Pappy has an osage about ready to hunt with as well.  Greg is working on a dogwood.  Lots of shavings at Twin Oaks.  Life is good.

Well I am back and what a great week,we worked on bows, trimmed meat and saved a bunch of sinew. We ate good of course  :) .Greg and BigA worked on Cain arrows and got around 200 ready
to start straighting.I laid out 2 snake bow for BigA .He had them to a growth ring and I wasn't
hunting so I worked on bows.Greg also got a Dog wood bow almost ready to finish.I got My Osage
out to tiller, heat treated, tips flipped and bone knocks put on and trimmed.Dave came down from
IN. and CastIron was there for a few days also.We killed 4 deer and had plenty of more opportunities.I missed a couple and BigA and did the same.I ant sure about Greg and of
course CastIron don't miss. ;) We seen a lot of deer also It was black powder season also so
we had a lot brought by.Here are some pictures of the week.Hope you enjoy.Life is good. :)
I also got to spend Jesse's last night here with him at the cabin. He done some serious napping and wanted to build his last fire with his bow drill. It was a good night,he hunted that Friday evening also
seen some deer but no shots,we did get to track one for a young man on his first ever hunt,He was using a recurve but at 21 and the first hunt ever I thought it was pretty cool.He came down 3 weeks ago and we got him started shooting after a couple of weeks he came back and wanted to know if I would let him hunt.I told him I need to see him shoot and he was pretty good so I sent him to one of my stands never thinking he would kill a deer.I thought he would see some and maybe even get a shot but figured he would blow it,boy was I wrong.  :) :)

My Osage ready to finish tillering,I heated the belly and going to let it set a few day and then finish it up,also the skin I plan to use on it,I split it right down the back bone so 1 skin will do the bow.

The tips on the bow is deer leg bone ,it is the first time I tried it and like it alot. The
first picture is Case's deer with a smoke pole,Then there is Paton Willams, one of the kids in our club
making a hickory bow and my 5th deer,2 for the week.Case wanted to track this one and he done a good job. Got to teach the kids to do that if they plan to bow hunt. :) Also GregB's Dog wood bow
first brace.Looking good.
