what were the poundage of your bow hillbilly?  i honestly just threw this one together.  it was either 3 or 4 strands, not split.  i just twisted them together.  they do stretch a bit, and it takes a bit to get to the proper length.  i shortened it by just twisting in one direction.  one day i will make a proper string for the bow. 

other than that, i dont know too much about making a bow string :-\  ill have to look up the terms you said..  been concentrating on my arrows lately.

i mad a flemish string or two from this stuff.
a bit stretchier than B-50 and seemed to fray faster. i don't like it
ive used the 30lb spools and i always do 4x bow weight

for instance 50lb bow X 4=200lb
using a 30lb spool this =7 strands=210 lbs so i do an 8 strand flemish

 El D, I've made strings for 65# bows with 14 strands. Like Steve said, it is stretchy. But I prestretch my strings for about a week with Dive weights.

can you back a bow with hide glue and artificial sinew?
