Old Gator Eye, New Mountain Maple Bow

(1/7) > >>

OldBow:
Got the stave from a nearby canyon last summer.  Made from billets. 70"ntn. 1 3/4" at flares tapering to 5/8"
Pull only 48# at 26"  Kind of wimpy. I don't think mountain maple (Acer glabrum) is as tough as Gordon's vine maple.
Made my first decent Flemish double loop string following the recent thread on bowstrings.  Thanks guys.
Bow is called Gator Eye because of a knot on one side.

Pat B:
Very nice Don. Did you induce backset when you spliced the handle? I'm glad you put in a full draw pic so we could enter you in ther BOM for March.  ;D  Pat

OldBow:
Whoops1 Thanks, Pat.  Yes, I induced a lot of backset when glueing together the billets.

tom sawyer:
Nice bow.  I definitely see the gator in that wood grain.

Ryano:
Nice character bow Don. ;D  Be careful of the knot on the side of the limb there, looks like the grain is violated pretty bad there, might want to consider a wrap of some sort there... ;)
