A Tribute to the 2010 Tennessee Classic
Timo:
Jeff, I heard that you had a very good Classic? ;)
I whooped up on that piece of Talahatta the other day....Tough stuff!
StevenT:
Back home in good old Kentucky, we have a description that is reserved for a select few. When you hear the words “He’s good people”, you know instantly the person being described is someone you can trust with no reservations. It’s a simple phrase, but it carry’s deep meaning and is used sparingly. I just attended my first Classic. I would not hesitate to use “He’s good people” when talking about the group of people I meet this weekend. It is very difficult to describe the true “from the heart” welcome feeling a person experiences at the classic. There is a reason people travel from all over the world to gather in that valley --- and that is to be with family. Brothers and Sisters all. And that is what I felt this weekend, like I was at home with long lost family.
Actually, for me, it was like going back to a magical time in my past. When I was a very young boy, my Uncle had a place similar to PappyLand. He held bow shoots and people traveled from all over the US to attend. It was no were near as big as Twin Oaks, but it carried the same warm feeling of people gathering and having a great time. These gatherings went on for many of my early years until my Uncle passed on. This weekend I was able to go back in time and live some of those wonderful memories all over again. The gathering place was different, the wonderful people that welcomed me was different and the family that gathered was different. But the magic was the same.
Rain be damned, it was a great weekend. All I can say is “THANK YOU” for adding another chapter to my memories and I look forward to the next.

That sounds like about as close to heaven as a person could get without dieing. I won't miss the next one. Nothing better than good company. Pappy had done a wonderful job with the classic. Steve
