cracker:
Dude I know this is off topic of what your doing but I think Fat Bottom Girls is a song that speaks volumes.

Bone pile:
Paradise or Spanish pipe dream by John Prine

Postman:
"Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. Floyd's "2 suns in the sunset" is awesome, too.

Diligence:
I have to echo the John Prine samples....good stuff all around (with a great deal of not so hidden social commentary).  Might look at "Great Compromise" by Prine - I've always liked that one, and the lyrics are catchy:  "But I'd druther have names thrown at me, than to fight for a thing that ain't right"

Also, for something a bit more modern, how about Johnny Cash's remake of "Hurt" by Trent Reznor.....Johnny really put his soul into that version and I think it speaks volumes about his life.

Parnell:
Some great suggestions, but personally, I think Fat Bottom Girls may be the greatest choice...

Course, there's always Pink by Aersomith. >:D ;D
