Wolfsongforge:
Now it is time for the sanding!!!!!!!! I usually take my knives to a high polish before heat treat, that way if i use a reduceing flame that is rich in fuel for my forge i dont get alot of decarburization and less work to ge it shiney again! here is my hand sanding set up. one pic from the top and one from straight on.
and the other
and here is the sandpaper, i like to use SC wet dry paper. i start useing 220, then work my way up to 800-1000 grit. less if they wanted a satin finish
and yes i do have a recliner in my shop(heated and massageing!) I have a neurelogical disease(MS) and it helps alot when a spasm hits.lol to much personal info i know but it is late!
well that does it for this scment of it, i will be doin g handles tomorrow.

Great build along at what temp to you temper and for how long? Ron
Wolfsongforge:
It all depends on the steel. the steels i listed in the pot above, all act different. but at 350 for 1 hour gets me the rc hardness i want for all of them. the stainless knife is tempered for one hour only. the L6 and 1080/15n20 knives are all tempered for 1 hour then cooled to room temp. i do that 3 times on those steels.

hey Dan,
The blades are very nice, but those arrowheads are terrific, at the hardness you stated they ought to shoot clean through most anything.
