From Barney
Horn sinew composite. Hickory core, Cocobolo handle laminates and ears. 40lb at 28''.String length 46''.  It took about 8 months to make, though most of that was waiting for the sinew to cure.  For the poundage the bow is fast (especially with light arrows). Like most short composite bows it has a high string frequency or dry fire speed, meaning the string really 'twangs when plucked'.  The down side with such short bows is they lack the stability of their longer counterparts, so any errors in shooting form are exaggerated.

I can't shoot this as accurately as my ELBs. Pound for pound it's definately faster though.

I'm photographing the stages of another build and will post a build along when complete in a couple of months.

Here is a sampling of some of the fine praise this bow received

"You nailed that one, looks perfect."  -Scott D
"Wow!!!" -Lombard
"That's flat out sweet.  Those things look like they'd be a blast to shoot." -Jonathan Creason
"that's real sweet. It's like a real nice cake, you don't want to eat it (or in this case shoot it), but just look at it." -youngbowyer33
"Barney, that is an exquisite bow.  Wow, what beautiful lines and laminations.  I'll bet it shoots smooth and fast.  I know how hard these are to build, and you did a great job." -DirtyDan

gothmog:
That one won the contest before it started.  Definately got my vote.  Congrats, on winning and an absolutely beautiful bow!

Pat B:
I knew I should have bought a lottery ticket. I nailed both BOM winners.
Very cool bow Barney. James Parker(Robustus) gave me Adam Karpowicz's book, "Ottoman Turkish Bows" last week and I started reading it yesterday with plans to make a Asiatic horn bow in the future. Yours is a fine example of horn composite bow!  8)

profsaffel:
Yeah, this was a winner from first view... I picked this one and I NEVER seem to vote for the winners. Congrats!

barney:
Thanks for the feedback.

The bow's still shooting great.

I had just about finished another one (was going to post a build along) when she delaminated on me and broke. I made the stupid mistake of leaving it in a hot garage then drawing it up. The glue had softened. Still, we learn from our mistakes.  I got hold of a copy of AK's book and have started a Turkish bow (now there's a real craftsman). I also have another one on the way similar in design to the BOM. It's a bit shorter though and with Paduak rather than Cocobolo pretty bits. I'll post when it's complete. I'm also thinking of something with Ebony.

Once again thanks for the vote.

Barney
