And just when I thought I'd give boo a chance again, you've convinced me to stick with hickory for awhile....

Well I just couldn't give up on this one that easy so I tried my hand at a patch job. I have seen wraps fail so I decided to use a splint as well. I sanded the splintered area and glued down the splinter with tite bond instant CA. I then thinned a piece of boo really thin and glued it over the area going beyond into the unaffected part. I then wrapped it with a rubber clamp to let it cure for a few minuets. Then I took the straps off and wrapped it with braided fishing line "I know not primitive but its what I had"  Finally I soaked in some super glue over the top and sealed it. It did change the tiller a bit and it took 1/8" more set. Still shoots fast and hard though. I was a bit nervous shooting it the first few times but after a few hundred shots I managed to get the courage to hold it full draw long enough for the self timer to take a picture ;D Not pretty but hey its a working bow again.

 Nice, clean looking patch, Jesse. I'm fixing one right now that did the same. Except I'm scraping the rind off and sinew backing it. When I'm done I'll cover it with a long Bull snake skin.

Thanks Eddie. I think the sinew will work great. I was considering it but I didnt have the materials. Make sure you post it when its done

Thanks youngbowyer and JW :) One good thing is now I might actually hang on to this one. Cant give someone a patched bow :)

I think you should wrap the other limb in the same spot so it would be symmetrical.  It would look like it was designed that way and not patched.

personally I would leave the other limb alone. Be proud of your patch... It shows how much you loved your bow because instead of giving up and retiring it you took the time to repair it and keep it shooting.  It is like a badge of honor or a cool battle scar... I like it.  :)

Hey good save! I actually have the same problem right now, though my splinter is about twice as long, but i am still going to see if i can get it fixed. I will probably use that tite bond CA, as i couldn't decide was would be best, but i think that seems like a good choice.

Exactly! The first real shooter I ever made is still going strong with a patch like that on one limb...
