shoot arrows
(1/1)
mullet:
Has anybody ever used China Berry tree shoots for arrows? I know they are in the Mahogany family, but I don't know how strong the wood would be when it is young.
Pat B:
Eddie, I would think the first year shoots would be too weak and second year too big. If you can find the right combo give it a try. I've never cut shoots but I did cut a few staves years ago(never built a bow with it) and they seemed light in physical weight.
Bill Skinner:
I would have to go look, don't the 1st year shoots have a large pithy center? Bill
mullet:
I think so, Bill, now that you mention it. I'll cut one tomorrow.
donnieonetrack:
Eddie, you ever try Brazilian pepper ( the plant thats taking over S. Fl.), it looks straight but have never tried. Luckly it doesn't grow around Gainesville.
Also, are you going to be at the TBOF shoot Aug. 13-15?
Donnie
