Pine pitch and ashes

Has anyone used just the ashes (dust) that comes from a stove when you empty the ashes out to mix with bees wax when making pine pitch.  I don't have enough charcoal to do a batch,  and was just wondering if anyone had used this as part of the mixture with good results??

Charlie, It should work but might be caustic. Fine saw dust will work too.
