Real Hunting Distance?

<< < (4/5) > >>

twcbow:
I hunt in very open country in the west. I constantly shoot out to 35 yards all summer in practice. I say this because I always try to get 15 yards and under the reason for that if that branch does get in the way and you animal doesnt see you you may have the opportunity for a second chance and still be in range. I have killed elk out to 30 yrds but everything has to be perfect to take that shot. I shoot for 20 and under most of the time.

Hillbilly:
<20 yards for me. Although they can get too close if you're hunting from a tree. I've missed two right under me this year shooting over their backs. If they had been at 15 yards, I would probably have killed them.

NOMADIC PIRATE:
Never shot anything further than 15 yards.

RabidApache:
For me, being out west 35yds and under. I'm in Az hunting Muleys and coues WT. I've taken my bigger buck spot and stalk at 21yds (compound). I'm now hunting with my Hickory Longbow ;). I hunt with a 54# LB @ 28" shooting cane/hardwood composite arrows with Zwickey broadheads. I have excellent arrow flight with this set-up.
