transmission question

hi guys. i dont really know....well...anything about mechanic work, but im messin with a 75 chevy pickup. now i dont know what engine or tranny came stock in this thing, but now it has a 350 with some bolt on mods, and the transmission is shot, but i dont know what tranny it is to look into getting another for it. my dad who gave me the truck said someone told him its a 350 lockdown, but i dont know what that is, and my google search didnt help much. someone els told me its probably just a 350 shorttail, which would make more sence to me. anyone got any idea?
