$50 Knife Shop, by Wayne Goddard It is a big help to a starting knife maker.
Bows & Arrows of the Native Americans, by Jim Hamm. Very good book with lots of info.

Tanning-
Deerskins into buckskins. I haven't braintanned, but read the book and is very detailed.
The Complete Book of Tanning Skins and Furs by James Churchill- details several different tanning methods of hair on and hair off of for many different species. The best tanning book out there if you want to try different methods!

Sharpening
The Complete Guide to Sharpening by Leonard Lee- if it needs sharpened, this book will show you how. Axes, drawknifes, plane blades, scrapers, saws, etc. Great book to own if you use any hand tools.
