My first Scandi style knife

Very good! Alder rot,how is that  to work with? Looks about the same as curly grained Birch.

Thanks for the comments.  Tbod, the alder root is a nice figured wood, but I have found it a bit on the soft side and seems to mark easily - curly grained birch isnt very hard either, but I now think makes for a better handle.  Medicinewheel, I have another knife in progress, with a very hard wood handle (amboina burl) - I'll post a build along when I get to the sheath making.  I also have another small knife already finished, which I am now using as my leather cutter, I'll post that one later today.
