Knapping Folks "Roll Call"?
Huntinfool:
I'm just getting started my close friend Bob Walden help me get some basic beginner tools together.
I've been watching knapping videos on YouTube for months now.
This is the very first point I ever made it was a scrap of flint Bob gave me that he knew wouldn't make a good point but it gave me some good practice. I have about 25 or 30
Here's the tool kit we put together I know I'll have to get a bunch more but for now at least I can break some rock!
Those points you see there are some cast aways Bob gave me to see if I could sharpen them and in general make them legal to hunt with in WV (no barbs mainly).
Of course I've been burnin' the midnight oil reading all I can here!
We are planning to make a trip up to the Flint Ridge Knap-in in Ohio Aug 31!! Really looking forward to seeing in person all the demonstrations and perusing all the stuff the venders will have for sale, especially the flint!

I remember when i started knapping about 14 years ago. The next year i made it up to the ridge, I still remember that trip.
Be sure to bring some $$ because the rocks add up. Find Eric Morris aka Morris rocks ask him about a bargain bucket. Basically its a 5 gal bucket full of flint for a good price. not top shelf stuff by any means but still knappable rock and good practice.

Knapping in Dayton Nevada. I have not met any local knappers yet. I am sure they are out there.
