So Ive decided to try this abo tackle making hobby a try. It looks like a lot of fun, and ive been on the edge of it for a while. Anyhow heres the stupid idea with a little backstory.
I do gun shows for a living all over the south, everything s of ky and e of co. Its a pretty cool deal, but the point is im pretty well always at the forefront of the huge commercialism of the shooting/hunting industry....which i find more than slighty distasteful. I grew up very poor and unable to afford things like I have on my website, so always made what I could, like arrows from dowel rods, and sharpened bits of metal for points fletched with whatever featners were around the chicken/turkey coops. I always appreciated those things, and think that ingenuity and use of what was at hand wereimportant charachter traits.
Furthermore I think that most of the appeal of this hobby is that you can make EVERYTHING yourself and get the materials from nature or by trade without ever needing anything from bass pro
So my stupid plan is to make my first set of tackle, bow and arrows, without spending a dollar. except on shipping for trades and fuel to the shipping place.....and I guess internet would have to be counted cause theres no way ill make a functional bow without help. And the stuff I have to trade obviously cost money at some point, but its in my way now, so that doesnt count.
Im already in the process of acquiring thetools from various people in the trading post, and i have a line on a few staves to wreck. I got a ton of arrow shaft material from a local source. So I think im on the way.
By the way the money restriction is just for the first set, and they dont have to be perfect, just functional.
This oughta be a hoot
