Oceanspray and Yew 'D' bow for Joy

(1/7) > >>

duffontap:
Hello Everyone,

With the talk about 'D' bows I got inspired to post one that I built a few months back.  I originally tillered this little Oceanspray stave to 50# @ 27" and it took almost 2" of set--not that I blame it--so I threw it aside for a couple months.  I ended up laminating on a Yew belly and tillering it out for a birthday present for my wife Joy.

52" [?] nock to nock.
7/8" wide (no narrowed handle section).
3/8" tips with horn and Abalone overlays.
Leather over cork grip.
35# @ 25".

It's a zipply little shooter with the 1/4" doug fir arrow shaft pictured.  Joy shoots it pretty well, but she can shoot anything well.

Thats a cool little bow JD. ;D Interesting wood combo. I bet it does really zing them light little arrows! 8)

Jbell:
She is a real beauty, the bow that is, well your wife's not bad either, ah shucks you know what I mean. ;D  So did it lose the set when you laminated it with Yew?

venisonburger:
Looks great, the tiller looks good, whats your wife shooting at in the picture with her back to the camera?

That sure is a pretty bow Josh.  I hope you didn't tell Joy it came out of the corner of shame.  ;D I thought I was the only one that made those 1/4" arrows. Justin
