Hickory or Boo backing???
« on: August 08, 2011, 08:58:33 pm »
Hey all,

I am planing another elb and wanted to do a maple backed with hickory or Boo. I am gonna use a 1x2 board and Im guessing the backing will be about 1/8" thick.... What do you all think would work better with maple? A hickory backing strip or a bamboo one? I am looking for about 50# @ 28"... By the way, this is going to be my first glue up... Any help would be great. Thanks.

Jon

Oh yeah, can I use tb3 if I  am gluing hicky to maple?

I have used both and greatly prefer hickory backing. It is way less work with a way less failure rate! TBIII will work well for either.
