fun with cedar

when spring rolls back this way, gonna gather as much cedar bark as possible. i'd like to make a few more of these. but what i really wanna make is a cedar bark hat in the pnw native tradition.

So what kind of "cedar" is that, Eastern Red Cedar or some other type?  I'd love to try my hand at one of those someday also...
