Inlaws had a dairy farm in upstate N.Y. years ago. Saw many of these especially near outhouses! :D :D :D :D............bob

Ooops! Did not see the 4 1/2 foot info! How about Mountain Lion scrape???

I don't think it is a predator. I would guess a whitetail scraping, then peeling the bark to eat. Justin
