Fiberglass mesh tape on take down sleeve butt joint/cap?

I could have sworn I recently read this on this site but can't find it anywhere doing searches.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  There was some wisdom surrounding putting the 'cut to shape' fiberglass tape on the butt caps but for the life of me, I can't remember or find the thread that described it...thanks, P1.
