moisture content in hickory backed hickory?

(1/1)

deermaster:
is the moisture content in a reflex glue up as critical in the 8-10% range in selfbows? if so, what is a good target? i will not be curing the glue with heat so if it needs to dry, should it be before the glue up?  it is bought from rudder bows so it will probably be dried some to begin with..??? mybe?? thanks for any ideas!!

Pat B:
Usually with hickory, 6% is where you want to be. Most other woods can't take M/C that low but that is where hickory shines. Dan Perry makes and shoots bows for flight shooting. He has claimed hickory backed hickory as one of his favorite combo. Dan lives in Utah and the flight championships are usually in the dry western climates where the R/H is very low.     Pat
