New Cherry bow, silk backed.

Hi All,

This is a new one all finished up besides the guys name and my sig which i will get done as soon as i can find someone with
Handwriting that doesnt look like scrawl.
I will just roll out the stats, 59 ntn, 60 ttt, prunus avium, silk back, dry heated working recurves, slight bend in handle,
3mm veg tan leather grip dyed black and made higher on the back, paduak overlays, light heat treat twice with polly finish.

I really like this shape and style and the next one will be similar but much more natural. This was the guys preference more
than mine but i do like it a lot! Thanks for looking all.

Looks like a ripper to me. Very nice work on a very challenging bow wood.

Thanks. The upper limb always seems to look a little stiff but on the board its fine  :o it also shoots very sweet so i think ill leave it there. Its strange as a yew bow i built a while back also looked stiff in the upper limb but it just felt right in the hand and worked???

If it feels and shoots good, odds are you did what the wood wanted you to do. What it looks like isnt always what needs to be done, but you know that already!

Very nice !!

I've got a cherry stave that needs a year or so to dry. What are the dimensions of your bow? Do you need to back Cherry? Do you always use a flat belly? Sorry for the questions but I don't see much info around on cherry other than how hard it is to work. Your is short and looks to be a real shooter :)

Nice finish and profile....im seeing an optical illusion from your background. When I put a straight edge up to my screen and line it up from tip to tip,and can't my screen 90 degrees as if it was on a tiller tree; your tiller looks better. Careful of backgrounds, I think it would look better with that ba ground if you were perfectly level with the bow and arrow so that it lines up with the lines on your fence.

Tiller can also look different from full draw on the tree compared to in the hand. Once I brace I don't use a tree or stick at all,except to measure weight. Its all done by how it looks in my hand.

I have tried to leave the cambuim on the back on a few other bows but it always let go way early in the process. The cambium on this cherry doesnt seem to be "strip like" its more like a coating and is incredibly tough. I hope that, plus the clue soaking and silk backing does the job.
