2. Bows backed with soft materials:  Rawhide, Sinew, Snake skins, and Cloth backings all fall into the selfbow category.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, just looking for some clarity is all.  :)

OK see well, I guess I was confused because I thought silk backs were backed before.
Yes, then. When Cipriano took over and the other changes were made we decided to make a backed bow a backed bow. Sinew, rawhide, silk etc all protect the back and thus are backed bows. Snake skins will be the exception since they are done for looks.
