Hi all,
i was just thumbing through  Paul H Gordons book The New Archery[ Hobby Sport  and Craft] which my wife bought for  christmas, when i noticed this entry quote, Ken Wilhelms freestyle shot of 758 yds,12 ins oct.1938 at the California State Tournament at Modesto.the bow drew over 200lbs if this is correct, it sounds amazing ,are there any details of this bow

I'm pretty sure he pushed it out to over 800 shortly after. The footbows these guys used benefitted greatly from being stronger than any hand held bow and both legs can be used to really push the bow forward with a coordinated release to gain additional yardage.
 I just recently saw a pic of Ken with a footbow at full draw.
 The record is totally legit though in case you thought it was a missprint. That record is now over 2000 I think.
 eta. Here's his career in a nutshell. He did get the record cloe to 900.
