New to bow making. Suggestion on style of 1st bow

(1/1)

Norbert:
I would like to know your opinion. What bow style would everyone recommend making for a 1st bow making experience. I will be using hickory.

Ifrit617:
I would recommend a long bend through the handle bow. Are you using a board or a stave?

osage outlaw:
An overbuilt bow.  I think Paul Comstock explains it in "The Bent Stick".  That is the bow I would recommend to a first timer.

bubby:
start with a board and either a bendy handle bow or a pyramid bow, 4" handle, 2" fades, 68" tip to tip for up to a 29" draw, Bub

aaron:
like ifrit said, i think you should build a bow as long as you are tall which bends through the handle. width at handle- as wide as you are comfortable holding ( about 1 1/4 ). Also i would reccomend shoting for a lower draw weight- under 40.
are you using a board?
