Arrow hitting hard on strike plate

(1/1)

shamus:
Here's my setup:

70" wood composite longbow, 50# @ 30", string nock 5/8" above 90 degrees, ash arrows spined 55-60.

Looking at my leather strike plate, it appears the arrow is wearing on the plate a bit. I'm not hearing anything odd upon release (like a *CLACK* of the arrow hitting the rest).

so, what are some factors for strike plate wear?

Badger:
Shamus, a wear pattern on strike plate is normal, if you are not hearing anything and arrow flight is good I would leave it. Normaly hitting strike plate too hard would be an indication of too much arrow spine, I would lighten them a bit or use a heavier point. Steve

Dale:
I think badger may be right.   Try a lighter spined arrow or install a heavier tip on your arrows.  You might also try raising your nock set location from 5/8" to 3/4" above zero.
