Three additions to the arsonal

Fellas,
    Got some very nice heads from Mr. Stoneberg so of course they had to go in with my batch of deer killers, eh?
    The shafts are split cherry hard wood, the heads are HARD Texas stone that are of the straight tang type, mounted w/ pitch, sinew, and treated with fish glue. The arrow finish is my regular grease/pitch combo I use on bows. I know one of the heads is Perdenales but no clue on the other two....maybe G can tell us.

gmc, I have a 26" draw and like to draw to the head, so the shafts are 26 inches from the bottom of the string groove to rear of the head....I think I rough cut my shafts to 27 to 27 1/4 inches

Very nice primitive arrows, Rich. How's the cherry working out. I have only tried cherry shoots and they are a bear to keep straight.

Pat, These arrows are cut from cherry hardwood rough-saw boards not shoots. They do not seem to be bad about staying straight though. Once I got 'em straight maybe it's the grease and pitch but they pretty much stay where they are afterwards.

G., hope ya dont mind, the heads are only get "to the wall" after they whistled down range, my trophies are the arrow wrapped with the kill tag and then into the collection.

Rich, I'm honored you put them on arrows.  From here on out whatever you do is up to you.  If a fat Michigan deer gets taken with one I'll be tickled for sure.  ;D

Sadie, they are smaller.  2 of the 3 are right at 7/8".  That's because I have the annoying habit of wanting to corner notch my points and then snapping off the corners.  All three of these are corner notch attempts that turned into stemmed points.  Turns out that was a common style where Rich lives so I sent them up.  That multicolor head is a spall I kinda wish I'd held till I got a little better.  It was really pretty (and a lot wider) at the preform stage.  Of course, once Rich gets a deer with it I won't wish anything different at all. ;)

Good looking arrows.  If your cherry shafts are as tough as the cherry wood I've split for firewood then they should be very tough arrows.
