medicinewheel:
hi all!  -  i believe i heard of dagame (brasilian cherry) being used for backings but i'm not sure! does anyone over here has experience with dagame?? if it can be used: how is it in tension compared to hickory?
thanks, frank

medicinewheel:

hi again! - c'mon, 35 views and no replies??!! nobody ever tried dagame for a backing??  ??? ??? ???

Dane:
Frank, I have used degame / lemonwood successfully for bows, but not as a backing. I do belive degame is lemonwood? I have seen lemonwood bows backed with hickory, if that helps.

Pat B:
Frank, I always heard of Digame(lemonwood) for belly wood but not backing wood.  Ever since the US embargo of Cuba(thats another kettle of fish) Digame has been difficult to get here in the US. I have a few old lemonwood bows but they were all backed with something.    Pat

medicinewheel:

oh, i guess that's the problem: i don't mean lemonwood, what i got here i from brazil, it pretty much looks like cherrywood. it's also called brazilian cherry therefore. it's dagame, not degame. it's really confusing with exotic woods' names.
what i have looks as it could function as a backing. well maybe i just try it one day...
