While out tree hunting today,I came upon a nice gobbler feeding in the brush, closest I came was about 15 yards! The irony was I had a future bow in my hands!! 25 years of hunting and I never stalked up on ol'tom,lol...been 30 yards away and blinked and sent them running tho...
Just had to share,Ron

gstoneberg:
That's pretty cool Ron, but I think you just proved one of the hard and fast rules of hunting.  The surest 2 ways to get close to a game animal are:

* Enter their habitat out of season
* Enter their habitat without a weapon
There are sub rules to these, but you get the idea.  I've had turkeys stay 20 yards in front of me all the way to my deer stand in Oct before fall turkey season opened.  I've had them come out under my tree stand and lay down to take a mid-day snooze.  As I recall that day they spotted a deer headed my way and ran it off.

Still a cool thing to get close when you don't expect to.

Yep, don't know how many critters have walked up on me when I was going to the bathroom. :-[ ;)
