sadiejane:
that atlatl is wonderful josh
tho, as you found out wed, i sure do need to practice throwing them things....

Lee Slikkers:
WOW Josh!!!  Since I'm a Falconer I think your "Thunderbird" needs to be thrown by one who flies hawks and falcons  >:D  Man that is such a cool project...I am just starting to get back into some carving and you Sir have just inspired the heck out of me  8)  I really did the idea of a take-down atlatl dart, have you posted any other threads on how you make those?  I just picked up the Atlatl (and really need some accuracy work) and have been captivated with using it...very addictive stuff!

Sparrow:
Probably use my cooking utensils on a daily basis more than anything "carved" I do......(I do most of the cooking around here so that I don't have to do most of the cleaning.)  I find an old spatula or serving spoon or whatever at the thrift stores,(Salvation army or saint vinny's,or....yard sales) bust off the old plastic handle and make up a wood one from something on the place or out in the woods. Puts a better feel in my hand and connects me into the natural world in another small way. People come to the house , see them and want them and so they become gifts. Here is a picture of a few that were at hand.

Lee Slikkers:
Thanks Josh, I'll have to go dig through that section and find your thread...cheers!

sadiejane:
sparrow-what a great idea about re-handling those cooking utensils.
foresee other projects in my future....
