SimonUK:
I've tried splitting wood starting in the middle of the stave or log, but one of two things happens:
1) the split doesn't follow the grain very well
2) the split 'spirals' and leaves me with no wood to play with at one end
Maybe the wood wasn't green enough.

Pappy it is awesome to see how those turned out. Rember seeing them on the bench at Cloverdale, all naked and yellow and just cut out. You really did that crooked piece of osage proud. Simply Awesome.
Rich Saffold:
Wow Pappy, that's twice as cool as just having one snakey bow..Kinda like dating twins! ;D ;) Beautiful work as usual.

Hey Rich S., now that is funny. ;D Medicinewheel, yes it is a most interesting start. ::) I have a lot of reflex in the stave to start. That is why I will save it for Pappy's rendezvous next year. He has a lot of knowledge up his sleeve. ??? With all those guys advising me over there I think I can finish it. I will bring some snake skins with me. We will call it the "Tenn. Classic twister". Pappy, you the man. :)
