Bullroarers?
Pretzelcoatl:
Hello everybody, i just had a bow break on me. it broke on the bottom limb so i cut off from the broken part to the handle and made an atlatl with the top limb. I'm looking to do something with the bottom limb and i was thinking of making a bullroarer. You guys have been very helpful and i thought i would ask. Thanks in advance! :D
Pat B:
What is a bullroarer? ???
Eric Krewson:
It's a aboriginal musical instrument that is swung over the head to make a deep throated roar of varying pitch depending on the speed at which it is swung.
YosemiteBen:
A Bull roarer is an indigenous cell phone! They have been used by primitive people around the world for communication. They have been mades in various shapes and sizes. One was used by paul Hogan (crocodile dundee) in his movie. Typically made of wood or bone. fairly thin usually not more than a quarter inch or so. 12 to 18 inches in length. rectangular rounded on the ends and beveled all the way around. drill a hole in one end and tie on a leather or heavy cotton or dogbane cord. I will take pics of the one in the musuem and try to post later. I have been having trouble posting so might have to wait till I get home. Have fun with theat and don't hit yourself in the head!
