new knife, Alligator sheath

(1/3) > >>

Okla-archer:
This knife is a laminated vg-10 steel blade with a convex edge. the blade is 4 1/2 inches long.  I purchased the blade from someone else because I really wanted a vg-10 steel and I don't have the tools to work with it :P so its not super primitive but I thought you guys would like it.  The handle is Himalayan sheep horn and it is set it with mosaic pins.  the sheath is hand-stitched, made from alligator and leather.  Iv'e never had a convex edge knife before and i'm having issues sharpening it.  I'm using a leather strop with jewelers rouge on it. I just cant get it shaving sharp. How do you guys like it?

Ohh yes. its very hard to sew through the bone plates + the 3 thickness of leather but, nothing an ice pick and a hammer cant take care of.

bryan irwin:
cool knive and sheath

mullet:
I like them both, great combination. I get my initial edge on my blades with a set of paper wheels used to sharpen chisels. They are mounted on a bench grinder and one has inpregnated carbon chips and the other is jewelers rouge. The edge will get a mirror polish and is scarey sharp.
