my point that took a deer
« on: November 25, 2012, 10:06:40 pm »
I see often the question what is a good hunting point. The answer can vary a great deal. So I will just tell ya what worked for me with my bow and shaft. I shoot a 60# osage bow and 650 grain arrow counting the point. The point is 140 grains. The shaft is made from dogwood. The flint is Burlington and is ABO. This point went all the way through the deer and through the rib of a small deer. The point is 2.5 inches long, 1 1/8 inch width, and thin for ABO

I forgot to say that it was shot  into the ground twice due to missing deer and then resharpened.

Thanks for the info. That's a great looking point and bloody, which makes it cooler. I need to get me a couple of my own bloody points from succesful hunts.

I see that point found its mark. Congrats on the kill. When people ask me " how effective can a stone point be?" I answer better than steel. In my opinion. Again congrats on the kill!    Tower.

Congratulations on the deer. You also forgot to mention in the Spec's, "bloody", the best kind. ;)

Whadya mean "your" point?  Finder's keepers!

If/when they legalize stone points in South Dakota I want a matched set of six of those!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
