What Did You Do Today?
Eric Krewson:
Over an hour on the phone talking to and being transferred to 4 different people, two were by email, two were Indian with such heavy accents that I had to have them slow down and repeat almost everything they said and I finally got a replacement part on the way.

I had a happy accident a couple days ago. I called a number for sat. Tv and a guy answered. He said that’s wierd it usually doesn’t go to my cell phone. I told him I didn’t even know if I called right number but I wasn’t getting signal.
Immediately he suggested several things I had already tried. Then we got trouble shooting and found the problem. I thanked him for his help with a smile on my face. I had the number on my refrigerator magnet. I was going to remember that one.
It was so nice not to spend a half hour just trying to talk to a human let alone one I could clearly understand.

I forget just why my wife was calling a "help" line but the person on the other end introduced themself, "This is Bob from Wichita". Based on the strong accent and intonation "Bob" was more than likely NOT from "Wichita"... ???
Ever since then, when dealing with those phone "help" lines, the "Bob from Wichita" thing has become an inside joke between us.

As I unboxed more stuff I found 5 more damaged parts, two I could fix, three I couldn't. I got on the phone with Weber again and have the three other parts headed my way.

Some times I get in a cooking mood, yesterday was one of those days. I have been baking chickens lately, cheap, lots of meat that will make my supply of deer last longer. I invited my girlfriend for lunch but she is a traveling nurse who can make a lot more money working holidays so she canceled on lunch and headed out to parts unknown to work.
I baked a chicken, fried squash; I had just picked the squash in the background, my first picking of the year. I cooked poke salat which was amazing, some Kentucky Wonder green beans that I had canned and made slaw (not in the picture).
While I was on a roll, I defrosted some muscadine juice that I put up last fall and made muscadine jam to give as gifts. I use the old fashion method of making jam without pectin, it takes a while to boil it down but the muscadine flavor is bold and distinct.
