Those are some beautiful knives alright! Time to start making some custom sheaths for them! They are kind of fun to make. Think the Indians really prefer calfskin rawhide as it's very tough skin. But I think you could use other kinds of skins as well. I've only made a couple but did a little homework on making those.. Not sure if I still have the picture of my first sheath! Anyway, when I made it I inserted a piece of tanned leather into the one seam so that I could then stitch on the buckskin cover.. Added some fringe to that also.. and also a nice heavy piece of leather to the top so that the knife could be hung from a belt.
Yeah it was kind of a weird shaped little sheath for a wicked little knife that a guy brought over.. probably should have made it so the whole knife was encased in the rawhide.. anyway, I taped the knife up very well sticky side out first and then covered the sticky area with yet more tape.. that way as the rawhide dries into the relative shape you can then remove the knife! Not really a whole lot to making them..
anyway didn't mean to hijack your thread or anything.. They're beautiful knives! Very nice skill there! Wish I knew how to make them! But I kind of have enough going on possibly with the leather?? Well anyway a person like you could be a real 'bad' influence on someone like myself! J/K.. nice work!
