bamboo at the classic

It looks exactly like the stuff I gather and someone else said mine was japanese arrow bamboo.  I'm curing some first year shoots and they seem about as rigid as the older stuff.

Yes this is Japanese Arrow Bamboo.  And this bamboo does not loose it sheaths like river/switch cane does.  When you see the green of the bamboo pulling away or growing up from the sheaths, it is second year growth.  I have some marked that are now 4 year old stuff with the sheaths still on them.  Where as Japanese arrow bamboo has about an 8 year cycle, river/switch/hill cane runs on a three year.
